London 2012 Olympics Graffiti workshop
Ponders End
Spray can over canvas

ArtStart is a community arts organisation based in North London. With the aim to engage young people in creative activities, they contacted us to ran this workshop at their studio. This piece involved 8 young people who created a sports mural to celebrate and highlight the build up to the 2012 Olympic Games. We wanted to address the negative press associated with graffiti art by demonstrating that when young people are guided by experienced artists they can produce amazing art work that is both relevant and attractive and that the spray can is merely a tool to create work much as a paint brush or computer keyboard.

The mural took about 10 hours to complete and will be located at the Eldon Road Tuition Centre. This work is part of the Young Achievers project funded by Safer & Stronger Communities.
